Communications Design
Artist Biography:
Samantha Biuso is a current Communication Design student at Southern Arkansas University, the brain behind all of her creative illustrations and designs. Born in 1998 in New Jersey, she would move several times before settling in her current home in Magnolia Arkansas.
Samantha started drawing at a young age, fascinated with published comics and traditional Japanese manga since she was 8 years old. Not only that, but every Sunday she would race to snag newspapers from her parents, eagerly flipping to the comics section before digesting every frame. Her child-like curiosity grew into a strong determination to one day reach the papers, hoping to get a laugh out of any potential viewers of her work.
Over time Samantha’s love for comics and illustrations bloomed into a passion for creating her own. She was never seen without her sketchbook since. She has struggled with constantly adapting to a new environment with every stage of her life, as her family moved from place to place due to her father’s job. Using art as her form of communication with others, it has always been a comfortable place to create her own worlds and characters on paper. She still continues to share her little creations with the world today,
and hopes that one day they won’t be so little after all.
Samantha loves to create characters that are relatable, whether that’s through comedy or more serious and topical discussions. Other artists and professors claim that her style is unique and easily distinguishable from others, sparking a sense of pride within her. Samantha’s main passion with her work is to put her viewers into the shoes of her characters, whether that’s immersing them in a world, or just a simple situation. She strives to not only continue her own unique style, but to study and push herself beyond her normal comfort zone with every piece she does beyond the last. Her struggles as an illustrator and designer don’t hold her back, however, they propel her forwards as she tackles any artistic challenge thrown at her.
