The Upward Bound program at Southern Arkansas University will present a drama production, “Mack to the Past,” on Thursday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m., at Harton Theater on the SAU campus. This production not only showcases the artistic talents of Upward Bound participants but also underscores the program’s commitment to nurturing creativity and academic achievement.
Mack, a teen from Elizabethan/Shakespearean England, is transported forward in time by none other than the mischievous Puck from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to a 21st-century middle school. He must get help from the students to travel back to the past, where and when he belongs. This short comedy includes Shakespearean quotes and language and many allusions to the 1980s movie Back to the Future.
This family-oriented comedy is designed to keep you laughing throughout the entire play. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend this event. Immediately following the production, there will be an awards ceremony.
