The drama, directed by Brittney Bara, Director of Theatre, is a spine-tingling tale of a boy and his worst fears. Set in the mysterious Tombigbee Swamp, the story centers around Wiley, the young fatherless boy; his conjure-woman mother; his faithful dog, and the Hairy Man who haunts Wiley’s dreams. Featuring life-sized puppets specially built for SAU’s production by the Arkansas Center for the Arts in Little Rock, a chorus creates the atmosphere of the swamp. In an exciting battle of wits, Wiley learns to rely on his own resources to conquer both the Hairy Man and his own fears.
The show is for all ages. For more information call 870-235-4263 or email theatre@saumag.edu.
The cast includes John Orndorff as Wiley; Eboni Edwards as Mammy; Kayleigh McCoy as Dog; and Caleb Russette, Ta’Ru Harris, Atache Hill, Mykala Clark, Jazz VanAsshe, Amber Gantt and Audra Tibbit as chorus members.
Lizzie McKee serves as assistant director and Wally Eastland is production manager. Scenic designer is Joey Kaar and sound designer is Ben Culp.
