Dr. Krista Nelson presented on the topic of “Mental Health and Nursing: Assessment and Identification of Behavioral Abnormality within Patient Populations” on Sept. 23-25, 2019 in Valencia, Spain.
Dr. Nelson was invited to speak during the World Health and Nursing Conference. She has a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Her training focuses on the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders. Dr. Nelson is an assistant professor of psychology at Southern Arkansas University.
While the conference focused on nursing careers, Dr. Nelson was invited to present on the topic of detecting abnormality in the mental health of patients. Specifically, she discussed the four D’s of detecting abnormality: deviance, dysfunctionality, distress, and danger.
