The Department of Performing Arts and Communication at Southern Arkansas University will present a concert of choral music written by female composers on Tuesday, October 22, at the First United Methodist Church of Magnolia. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and features the SAU Heritage Singers and Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Justin Nelson. The repertoire spans a wide range of genres and languages. Included are the works of Fanny Hensel Mendelssohn, Dolly Parton, Hildegard von Bingen, and Arkansas native, Andrea Ramsey. The event is part of the “Her Voice: Women in the Performing Arts Initiative,” and is free to the public.
