Registration will be available online starting March 8 for this summer’s third-annual Mulerider Kids College (MKC), which has an additional camp in the afternoon this year in response to the growing popularity. Registration will also open for the inaugural Mulerider Teen College (MTC).
The two Kids College camps will be 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. from June 26-29. The new Teen College is set for 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. from July 5-7.
Visit http://web.saumag.edu/kids-college to complete the registration form and view the class schedule. Class placement will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
“We are so excited to be offering two sessions of Mulerider Kids College and our first ever Mulerider Teen College! We can’t wait to have all the kids on campus this summer!” said Jana Walker, MKC and MTC coordinator.
Tuition for MKC and MTC is $50 per student, per camp. Registration deadline is May 1. Registration forms will be accepted with a $25 late fee through May 8, based on availability. For those without computer or internet access, Walker said her office and assistance are available in the SAU Advising Center, Overstreet Hall 235.
The three-day MTC program will be for students entering grades 7-9. It is designed to give junior high students fun and educational experiences outside of a regular classroom setting. Tuition includes a t-shirt and lunch each day.
The MKC camps are for youth entering into the following grade categories: first-second, third-fourth, and fifth-sixth. Both the morning and afternoon camps will consist of students enrolling in three 60-minute classes of their choice, per availability and grouped according to age. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, snacks, and a MKC bag. Students choosing to enroll in both morning and afternoon camps will be provided lunch in the cafeteria.
A limited number of scholarships are available, and will be awarded based on financial need and on a first come, first serve basis. The scholarship application is also on the MKC website. Deadline to apply is April 5, and applicants will be notified by April 14.
Following on the success of the inaugural 2015 MKC, organizers at SAU welcomed more than 250 students in the second annual event that featured 23 unique classes. This year’s MKC course offering has more than doubled with a total of 50 courses from which to choose. The inaugural Teen College course list includes 24 offerings.
