The Office of Community Education at Southern Arkansas University has an interesting array of more than 10 affordable non-credit class options available for the public this fall.

Scuba Diving for Beginners
Obtain the knowledge and skills required to become a P.A.D.I certified instructor. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors is the largest and most prestigious training program in the world. The course consists of classroom, pool sessions, and open water checkouts (Lake DeGray). Minimum age is 10. Class is limited to 6 students.

Yoga Fusion
Traditional postures for stress relief and restoration mixed with power flow and core. This SAU exclusive class will provide a fun blend of yoga that’s a low impact workout combined with strength and stretching. Real Estate Workshops for Brokers and Sales Agents
These workshops have been approved by the State Real Estate Commission for seven hours of continuing education credit. Danny Been, Principal Broker with Danali Real Estate and Arkansas Real Estate School will host two workshops. The first workshop is for active brokers while the second workshop is for sales agents.

Sugar Cookie Decorating – Autumn Theme
This course is an introduction to the art of decorative cookies. The instructor will explain the basic cookie decorating tools, bags, and tips. She will demonstrate how to properly outline, flood, and decorate cookies. You will get to practice basic outlining, flooding, and decorative piping on Fall themed cookies. The fee includes 1 dozen cookies and take home icing. Class size is limited to 12.

Maximizing and Protecting Your Wealth Series
Would you like to know how your money actually works? Youth Studio Art Workshop

Weavin’ Down South: Chair Weaving Basics
Learn to weave seat bottoms and stool tops in the colonial fashion using fiber rush material. Each participant will make and keep a small foot stool and learn how to weave a fiber rush top on that stool. The basic weaving techniques learned in this class can be applied to stools and chairs of various sizes. Class size is limited to 3.

Know the 10 Signs: Early Alzheimer’s Detection Matters
If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts. Early detection of Alzheimer’s disease gives you a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan for the future. This interactive workshop features video clips of people with Alzheimer’s disease.

Effective Communication Strategies for Alzheimer’s Patients
Communication is more than just talking and listening, it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language. As people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join us to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
