The Rankin College of Business at Southern Arkansas University will sponsor its fifth annual Light for the Fight ceremony on Monday, Oct. 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Rankin College of Business’ Blanchard Building.
The ceremony honors all those who have battled cancer.
“This Light for the Fight ceremony began when our students wanted to do something to honor Tammie Green, the wife of our professor, Ken Green,” said Dr. Robin Sronce, dean of the Rankin College of Business. “Cancer is a tragic disease that is so prevalent in our society. It has touched all of us in some way, either through a personal battle or through family and friends. This ceremony is a way to honor all of those who have battled cancer, as well as the survivors of those who have been lost to cancer.”
Luminaries are available for purchase in honor and in memory of friends and family members. Light pink luminaries will be in memory of our friends and family members who had breast cancer; dark pink will signify breast cancer survivors or current fighters, and purple luminaries represent other types of cancer.
Luminaries will be lit at the ceremony and will remain on display in Blanchard through October. They are $5 each and can be purchased by calling 870-235-4300 or by emailing rltalley@saumag.edu.
