Tara Almand, assistant professor of nursing at Southern Arkansas University, was selected to the state’s 40 Nurse Leaders Under 40 list, which honors emerging nursing leaders in Arkansas who are younger than 40 years old.
More than 80 nurses were nominated from across the state. The 40 honorees were selected based on commitment to excellence, service and outreach, leadership qualities and contribution to the advancement of the nursing profession. They are acknowledged as community outreach servants, and recipients provide dedicated service to their local population with a promise to grow in leadership and in the advancement of nursing in Arkansas.
“Tara is an incredible person and teacher. She goes above and beyond in her work as a faculty member and as an Advance Practice Nurse working in the SAU University Health Center. She exemplifies a person committed to excellence in all that she does,” were comments made by the co-worker who nominated Almand for this award.
“Fellow honoree Janet Smith, nursing faculty at National Park College in Hot Springs and I graduated together from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and were members of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society,” Almand said. “Janet and I are the only 2017 honorees from our respective institutions.”
The list also included honorees from Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Arkansas Tech University, Baptist Health, Baxter Regional Medical Center, UAMS College of Nursing, UAMS Medical Center, University of Central Arkansas, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Central AR Veterans Healthcare and Conway Regional Health System.
“It is truly an honor to be nominated and chosen as one of the 40 Nurse Leaders in Arkansas under 40. I am very appreciative to the co-worker that took time to nominate me for this award” Almand said.
