The Second Annual Special Needs Rodeo roped in a stampede of smiles from the Magnolia Specialized Services guests at Southern Arkansas University’s Story Arena on October 28, 2015.
This fun and hands-on event is hosted by students in the Leadership and Communications class in SAU’s Department of Agriculture. Members of SAU’s nationally competitive rodeo team also enjoyed sharing their talents and personalities with the special needs children and adults.
Several stations were set up in preparation for around 150 guests inside Story Arena, including rodeo activities such as roping, horse riding, horseshoe throwing, and goat tying. After learning about the sport of rodeo and visiting with SAU students and Rodeo Team members, each guest was given a free admission ticket to the upcoming SAU Rodeo.
The SAU Intercollegiate Rodeo runs from November 5-7, each night starting at 7 p.m. in Story Arena. A “Meet the Team” event will be from 6:15-6:45 p.m. each night, as well, at which fans can get to know SAU’s Rodeo Team members and get autographs and photos taken.
Admission prices for the rodeo are as follows:
Adult Prices: (13 and over) $10
Youth (Ages 6-12): $5
SAU Students (with ID) $5
Ages 6 and under: Free
