The University Housing department at Southern Arkansas University was recently recognized by the Department of Defense for its support of the National Guard and Reserve employees and students.
SAU Housing received a nomination for the Employer Support Freedom Award during a presentation on September 2, 2015. This nomination puts SAU Housing in the running forthe Department of Defense’s Top Employer Award, which is the highest recognition given by the DoD to employers for their support of National Guard and Reserve members.
This award was nominated by a Guard or Reserve member who is also an employee and/or student at SAU. This individual considers SAU to be an outstanding supporter of his/her service in the National Guard or Reserve. This nomination also notes SAU’s interest, dedication, and mostly the critical role SAU as an employer plays in the National Defense of our country.
SAU has been recognized for its support of military students and employees in the past, being named a “Military Friendly School” by G.I. Jobs magazine. Universities named in this group are nominated by military students who complete surveys noting institutions which prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience and offer scholarships, discounts, veterans’ clubs, full-time staff, military credit, and other services to those who served.
