A group of Southern Arkansas University Theatre students recently completed their annual workshop series to help Magnolia High School students prepare for the high school’s upcoming play.
The SAU students were escorted by Judy Vasser, assistant professor of theatre and mass communication. Vasser and her students provided three choreography workshops and a makeup workshop.
The MHS students took guidance Wednesday, March 5, at the final spring workshop as Vasser and her students demonstrated makeup techniques. The high school girls learned the difference between stage and street makeup, while the boys had to be convinced that stage makeup is necessary despite gender.
The MHS students will be applying what they have learned at their upcoming play, “Rock Around the Block.” The play is under the direction of Keri Hamilton and Larry Dunn. It is scheduled for March 15, 2014, at the Magnolia Junior High Auditorium.
SAU students who shared their time and talents at this spring’s MHS workshop series were Christian Williams, Sydney Dumas, Deitrick Wyrick, Mercy Fuentes and Caleb Carrier.
