Students and community members are invited to join the annual Southern Arkansas University group tour of Europe for the May 13-24, 2015, voyage to Spain.
Travelers will enjoy the magnificent vistas of Madrid, Granada, and Costa del Sol. All will have the chance to admire the cathedrals of Barcelona and Toledo. The group will relax by the fountains of the legendary Alhambra palace. Of course, they will not miss the chance to sample wonderful cuisine while taking a stroll in the streets of Seville.
“Spain is a perfect destination for an SAU European study tour. A country composed of 17 autonomous states, five official languages and three distinct religions has an incredibly rich history,” said tour leader Dr. Svetlana Paulson, associate professor of history at SAU.
For more information about joining the tour of Spain, contact Paulson at (870)235-4228 or SvetlanaPaulson@SAUmag.edu.
Paulson said that one of the highlights of the trip is going to be a tour of the world-famous Alhambra Palace, with its exquisite fountains and gardens. The itinerary for the trip will offer something of interest for everyone, from students to community members.
“The enthusiasts of language studies will immerse themselves in the Spanish-speaking world. Students taking this study tour for history credit will experience living history, and those loving the outdoors and cuisine will enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and flavors of Spain,” said Paulson.
Previous European study tours have been generously supported by SAU donors and the SAU Foundation. If there is sufficient funding this year, students taking the tour for history credit may be eligible for scholarships.
“The SAU tour of Greece in 2014 was an amazingly enriching learning experience. Our group visited the original Olympic stadium. Learning about the history of Olympics in a classroom is wonderful, but it becomes unforgettable when you get to see the place where it all happened,” said Paulson. “Greek staff allowed our students to step out into the stadium and run a lap. I have no doubt that Spain will offer our tourists unique wonderful memories as well.”
