The fourth annual Boo in the Barnyard will offer a safe and fun place to trick or treat tomorrow night from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Southern Arkansas University Agriculture Center.
Hosted by the SAU Agriculture Club, the event offers games, a petting zoo, haunted hallway, face painting and other activities. The event has grown each year, and organizers estimated attendance last year at around 1,000 children.
“We started the Boo in the Barnyard event as a way to get to know the community and for the community to get to know the Agriculture Department. It provides us an opportunity to showcase our students and faculty and provides a safe, entertaining night of trick or treating for the youngsters,” said Dr. Jeffry Miller, chair of the SAU Department of Agriculture.
According to Miller, the event was the idea of Carley Calico, who is now an SAU agri alum who is in graduate school pursuing a M.S. in Agriculture Education from the University of Arkansas.
