It may not be every day that one has the opportunity to meet a reality television star, but that opportunity will present itself on Thursday, March 1, during an event called “Sweet Home Southern Arkansas.”
Taking its name from CMT’s hit series “Sweet Home Alabama,” the event at the SAU Welcome Center will give attendees the opportunity to meet and mingle with Shaun Smith, a contestant on the CMT show and student at SAU. “Sweet Home Southern Arkansas” is sponsored by the Phi Beta Lambda chapter of SAU’s College of Business and the SAU Rodeo Team and is a fundraiser for the two groups.
For $10 the public will be able to have a photo made with Smith, enjoy a “city dog on a bun” (a hot dog, cleverly named for the “city boys” with whom Smith is competing on the show), rope a dummy calf, throw a pie in the face of your favorite city boy, rope a cowboy, ride a bull and more. The groups hope to promote fun for all ages.
During the event, Smith will give an interview to those in attendance.
Tickets are available in the College of Business office and the office of the vice president for academic affairs on the SAU campus. Tickets may be purchased off campus at Farmers Bank and Trust, People’s Bank, Mule’s Cantina and the Bank of Prescott.
In case of rain, the event will be held at the SAU Rider Rink.
