MAGNOLIA – Adam Lashinsky, editor at large for Fortune magazine and a regular guest on Fox News, will be the guest speaker at the annual Murphy Lecture at Southern Arkansas University. The lecture will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, in Harton Theatre.
Lashinsky is a well-respected business journalist and commentator with special expertise in finance and technology. An insider to Silicon Valley, he has written articles on Apple, Google, eBay, Hewlett-Packard, and Intel. He also has a clear-headed, New York perspective on Wall Street, and has covered hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, and the post-Katrina economic recovery of New Orleans.
“We are pleased to have Adam Lashinsky serve as our guest speaker for this year’s Murphy Lecture,” said Dr. Lisa Toms, dean of the College of Business at SAU. “Adam is known worldwide for his work on Fox News and with Fortune magazine. His lecture should prove interesting and enlightening.”
Lashinsky has broad experience in both broadcast and print media.
He is a weekly panelist on the Fox News Channel’s program Cavuto on Business and appears frequently throughout the week on other Fox News and Fox Business Network programs
Before joining Fortune, he was the Silicon Valley columnist for TheStreet.com and was the first high-tech stocks columnist for the San Jose Mercury News. He has been a reporter and assistant managing editor for Crain’s Chicago Business and was a Henry Luce Scholar in Tokyo, working as a reporter for the Nikkei Weekly, the English-language version of Japan’s main economic daily, Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
Lashinsky’s work has also appeared in The New York Times, Wired, San Francisco Magazine, and many other publications. He interviews for a video series on Fortune.com titled “Connected with Adam Lashinsky.”
Recently, Lashinsky moderated a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos titled “Creating a Digital Nervous System.”
