MAGNOLIA – The Department of Art and Design at Southern Arkansas University will sponsor an exhibition of work by Mark Mothersbaughs in the Brinson Fine Arts Gallery from April 1-13. Mothersbaughs was the front man for the 1980s rock group “Devo.”
The show is titled “We must repeat” and will begin with a reception and Skype-cast at 7 p.m. on April 1 in Foundation Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center.
Mothersbaughs’ accomplishments include the musical score for a number of Wes Anderson films. His music has also been a staple for the children’s television shows Rugrats, Beakman’s World, and Clifford the Big Red Dog. He wrote the theme song for the new Felix the Cat show for Film Roman, music for Pee-Wee’s Playhouse in 1990, and the theme song for The New Super Mario World for DiC Entertainment in 1991.
Mothersbaugh is also known for his music in video games including Sony’s Crash Bandicoot series, the Jak and Daxter series, and EA Games’ The Sims 2. This work is often performed with Mutato Muzika, the music production company he formed with several other former members of Devo.
