- Dr. Sheri Baggett-McMinn, associate professor of health, kinesiology and recreation, has received a plaque of appreciation for continued support from Special Olympics athletes in Area 15.
- Arkansas in Modern America: 1930 – 1999, a book by Dr. Ben Johnson, dean of the College of Liberal and Performing Arts was recently listed as being ranked No. 9 on the University of Arkansas Press’s all-time best sellers list. The list appeared in an Oct. 11 article in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
- Dr. Shawn Krosnick, assistant professor of biology, is interested in starting a faculty/staff running group. Anyone interested in participating may contact her by email.
- Dr. Carla Bryant, director of the online M.Ed. and M.A.T. programs, presented two sessions at the Arkansas Association of Gifted Education Administrators conference in Little Rock on Sept. 18. Her presentations were titled “Developing Comfort in Using Gifted Identification Instruments” and “High School Principals’ Attitudes Toward Perceptions of Gifted Students, a National Study.”
- Daniel Page, director of Magale Library, recently attended the Arkansas Library Association conference in Little Rock. He was nominated to serve as chair of the College and University Libraries Division of the association. He will also serve on the association’s executive board.
- Dr. William Kist, assistant professor of health kinesiology and recreation, and Dr. Denise Moseley, assistant professor of education, are presenting a poster at the International Conference on Kinesiology and Integrated Physiology in October. The title of the poster is “Does Standing on a Cycle-Ergometer, Towards the Conclusion of a Graded Exercise Test, Yield Cardio-Respiratory Values Equivalent to Treadmill Testing: Effect of Gender.”
- Aaron Street, director of communications, presented a session on video at HighEdWeb 2010.
- Shelley Kieth, website coordinator, presented a three hour workshop on WordPress at HighEdWeb 2010. She also served on the program committee.
