MAGNOLIA – Two Southern Arkansas University staff members have been honored as the recipients of the annual Mary Anna King Whitehead Professional and Support Staff Excellence Awards. The awards were presented by SAU President Dr. David Rankin during the annual staff awards breakfast on Monday, March 22.
Mary Hubbard was the recipient of the Mary Anna King Whitehead Support Staff Excellence Award. She joined the University staff in 1986 and currently serves as the switchboard operator. “She cares and stays current on information around campus to answer those with questions,” said those who nominated Hubbard. “She is pleasant to work with and lends a helping hand to those in need.”
Daniel Grimmett was the recipient of the Mary Anna King Whitehead Professional Staff Excellence Award. He joined the SAU staff in 2006. He currently works in the Information Technology Services department where he serves as assistant director for information systems and institutional research. “His work has simplified many processes on campus including admissions, financial aid, registration, human resources and others,” said those who nominated him.
The Mary Anna King Whitehead Staff Excellence Awards have been fully endowed through the Southern Arkansas University Foundation. Each recipient receives a $500 award. The endowment was funded by current and former Governors of the University Foundation in memory of Mrs. Whitehead who was a six-year member and former chairperson of the Foundation Board. Investment income from the Whitehead Endowment is funding the two University staff excellence awards annually in perpetuity.
