MAGNOLIA – The Employment Resource Center at Southern Arkansas University will host a Teacher Fair from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, in the Grand Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center.
“The Teacher Fair provides an opportunity for students and alumni to learn about teaching positions in public schools and the special programs offered by the Arkansas Department of Education that will help with student loan repayment,” said Wilma Williams, director of the SAU Employment Resource Center.
Representatives from public schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas, from graduate schools, and from other state programs will be available to share information about teaching positions and program requirements. Information on licensure and Praxis exams will also be available. To date, more than 25 schools and organizations have registered for the fair.
The event is designed to help public school administrators who are seeking applicants for teaching positions, but it also serves current students and alumni who are seeking a career or seeking information about a career in education.
Williams said they will need a good networking environment, a good turnout of students and alumni looking for teaching opportunities, and a good turnout of public schools and organizations to have a successful event. “I hope that students and alumni find the employment opportunities or program information that they were expecting to find when they walked through the door of the Grand Hall, and maybe even some opportunities they weren’t expecting,” she said.
