MAGNOLIA— The College of Business at Southern Arkansas University recently formed its first student recruitment team, the Business Ambassadors. At the College of Business Leadership Summit in October, participating students expressed an interest in becoming actively involved with the College’s recruitment efforts. With encouragement from Dr. Lisa Toms, dean of the College of Business, interested students were asked to apply for a spot on the student recruitment team. Students from all classifications were invited to apply whether they were business majors or minors.
During the holiday break, Toms and members of the College of Business Marketing Committee met to review the applications and choose the members of the team. The recruitment team met for the first time on Thursday, January 14, and got right to work making plans for new recruiting materials and activities. They were also charged with the responsibility of coming up with a name for the recruitment team. They chose to be called the Business Ambassadors.
On Wednesday, January 27, members of the Business Ambassadors attended the District IV Future Business Leaders of America conference in Hot Springs. They served as competitive events judges and worked a recruitment table – talking to high school FBLA members about the SAU College of Business. The Business Ambassadors are currently working to develop a College of Business Preview Day for area high school seniors. Future plans include visiting area high schools and community colleges to help promote the College of Business to prospective students.
The following students were chosen to serve as Business Ambassadors:
From Camden, Edward Hunter, a senior business administration major.
From El Dorado, Samantha McKinnon, a senior marketing major.
From Hamburg, Caitlin Harrison, a junior marketing major.
From Junction City, Paige Pinson, a senior marketing major.
