MAGNOLIA— Students who complete an associates of general studies degree in business at Rich Mountain Community College in Mena will now be able to easily complete a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Southern Arkansas University. A memorandum of understanding between the two institutions was signed Monday in Magnolia.
“Basically this means that the students (at Rich Mountain) can earn their associates degree in Mena and then transfer here to complete their B.B.A.,” said Dr. Lisa Toms, dean of the SAU College of Business. “It’s making the best use of the students’ time and money.”
Under the terms of the agreement, after completing the associates of general studies at RMCC, a student may transfer smoothly into SAU’s B.B.A programs in accounting, general business, finance, marketing, organization management, or management information systems. The semester credit hours earned for the A.G.S. degree will transfer to SAU to be applied towards the B.B.A. Students will complete junior and senior-level hours at SAU to earn the bachelor’s degree.
Toms said that students may transfer to SAU to take courses on campus, or they may complete the requirements through the new online B.B.A. organization management program. She said the online program is specifically designed for transfer students who have earned an associate’s degree and have taken business courses.
The Southern Arkansas University College of Business offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in business and accounting. The College is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB International is the top accrediting agency for business schools in the world.
