The Golden Triangle Economic Development Council (GTEDC) has scheduled the ninth annual dinner meeting for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 at the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center.
The guest speaker will be Becky Thompson, deputy director of global business for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. Thompson has more than 13 years of economic development experience which includes community development consultant and project manager for recruiting business and industry.
Before joining AEDC, Thompson served as director of global business for the Mississippi Development Authority in Jackson, Miss. Her responsibilities included oversight of recruiting domestic and international companies to Mississippi and provided trade assistance to Mississippi companies. She is a graduate of Nashville High School and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
The GTEDC is a regional non-profit economic development group consisting of a board of directors which are elected by the GTEDC membership from Calhoun, Columbia, and Ouachita and Union counties. The region has accomplished a great deal and is looking forward to meeting the economic challenges ahead.
Dr. David Rankin, chairman of the GTEDC, will present the annual report at the meeting.
“Through support and participation in the GTEDC we can affectively address the growing economic concerns of 2009,” Rankin said. “Regional support is essential for us to continue to pioneer inroads for economic development in South Arkansas.”
