MAGNOLIA — Southern Arkansas University is teaming up with other members of the Golden Triangle to support Arkansas’s future in technology at a special symposium, “From Paper to Digital in One Generation,” on March 14 at the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center.
“Southern Arkansas University is pleased to support the government initiative to bring more technology-based industry to Arkansas by being a sponsor of this symposium,” said SAU President Dr. David Rankin.
Those attending this one-day conference will find out where Arkansas is headed on the Information Highway and what impact that will have on business and industry in Arkansas. The keynote speaker of the symposium will be Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe. Also included in the day are numerous corporate leaders who will speak on topics such as the “current state of the media and electronic storage” and “litigation in the electronic age: pitfalls and promises of e-Discovery.”
IFSA Data Storage Inc. of Magnolia, Ark., a major sponsor of the symposium, hopes this event will help economic development in the Golden Triangle, according to Philip A. Betsch, president.
“Development of a 21st century knowledge based industry located in the Golden Triangle is critical to new job creation for both the near and long term,” said Betsch. “Working closely with both state and local authorities and the Golden Triangle’s leading academic institutions, IFSA is committed to play a leading role in the development of three cyber parks in the Golden Triangle. Known collectively as the Arkansas Digital Repository, the objective of these parks will be to attract national business to southwest Arkansas for offsite storage, disaster recovery and business services.”
Group rates for out of town travel can be made through March 1. The conference is from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 14. Registration is $120 per person and includes lunch. To register and find out more information, visit www.sausymposium.com.
