Arkansas Theta Chapter at Southern Arkansas University inducts new members
MAGNOLIA, Ark. —The Arkansas Theta chapter of the Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society inducted 54 new members on Feb 7, 2008, in the Grand Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Building on the campus of Southern Arkansas University.
The University’s chapter sponsor for Alpha Chi is Dr. Scott White, assistant professor of chemistry. Dr. David Rankin, president of SAU and Dr. David Crouse, interim vice president of academic affairs, addressed the audience and the students. All of the inductees were awarded a medallion which they can wear during their graduation from SAU.
Co-sponsors who assisted White with the ceremony were Dr. Gayle White of the College of Business, Dr. Denise Moseley of the College of Education, and Dr. Ben Johnson of the College of Liberal & Performing Arts.
Alpha Chi was founded in 1922 and its purpose has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction. Membership in the Theta chapter of Alpha Chi is by invitation only through a nomination process completed by members of the SAU faculty. Membership is limited to the top 10 percents of juniors and seniors at the University.
