Twelve students from Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, enrolled in the internship program offered by the College of Business and worked with several businesses in the region during the spring semester.
Students with accounting internships include Kerri Beasley, a senior accounting major from El Dorado, with Emrich and Scroggins, LLP in El Dorado; Shelley Butler, a senior accounting major from El Dorado, and Bradley Hoover, a senior accounting and finance double major from El Dorado, with Evers, Cox, and Gober, PLLC CPA in El Dorado; Maria Kolarevic, a senior accounting major from Avon, Conn., with David L. Jordan, CPA in Magnolia; and Valerie Norris, a senior accounting and finance double major from Fort Worth, Texas, with Preferred Pump and Equipment of Fort Worth.
Participating in finance internships in Magnolia were Salman Afridi, a senior accounting and finance double major from Dubai, Pakistan, with Alcoa; Damilola Araba, a senior marketing and finance double major from Abiya, Neger, with Wal-Mart; and Zach Talley, a senior finance major from Magnolia, with Mustard Seed Financial LLC. Kawing Ng, a senior finance major from Tsing, Hong Kong, completed an internship with TAIAO Aluminum of Plano, Texas.
Management interns included Whitney Sandifer, a senior general studies major from Minden, La., with Rider Books of Magnolia, and Michael Templeton, a senior organizational management major from El Dorado, with UPS in El Dorado. A marketing internship was provided by South Arkansas Regional Health Center for Megan Cole, a senior marketing major from Magnolia.
Students include many advantages for participation in the internship as they write their reports. They are the ability to explore a specific industry before committing to full-time employment, the opportunity to learn good human relations skills and to practice these skills in a real situation, and the chance to expand their networks.
