MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Prepare for the joyous upcoming holiday season by attending Southern Arkansas University’s annual Celebration of Lights.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, with the Magnolia Christmas Parade and continue at 6 p.m. with greetings and caroling and the RHA Celebration of Lights at Overstreet Hall. At 6:20 p.m., a program including ringing of hand bells, refreshments and the announcement of parade winners will take place at the plaza of the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center. Also during this special segment of the celebration will be the lighting of the Bell Tower.
This exciting event will be followed by a special appearance from a visitor traveling all the way from the North Pole. The evening concludes with a Christmas feast including carved roast turkey, ham, corn bread dressing, garlic mashed potatoes, corn, green bean almondine, candied yams, tossed salad, cranberry sauce, roles and assorted desserts will also be offered.
The dinner will be served from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Reynolds Plaza. SAU students will eat free. Tickets for children ages 2-12 are $3 and $6.50 for adults.
