The Students in Free Enterprise team at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, is sponsoring Professional Development Month during October.
Activities include more than 20 seminars which provide learning experiences in a variety of areas, including resume writing, professional dress, etiquette, interviewing skills, and others.
Judge Jess Dickinson, a justice on the Mississippi Supreme Court, will lecture on business ethics on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Dickinson will present actual cases drawn from his years on the bench, which present real world unethical business conduct and the consequences they cause. He is the past chair of the Ethics Committee of the Mississippi Bar Association. The 50-minute seminars will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 p.m. in Foundation Hall.
Members of SAU’s International Students Association will set up displays in the lobby of the Business/Agri. Business Building on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The students will discuss their home countries.
“This is an excellent opportunity to improve the global consciousness of our student body,” said Dr. James Clark, associate professor of marketing and SIFE sponsor.
The Fall Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Recruiters will set up in the lobby of the Business/Agri. Business Building and meet with students during the day. This event is open to all students.
“This will be our fourth annual career fair, and it will present job opportunities to our students,” said Clark.
