The Department of Art and Design at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, will sponsor “Shades of Reality,” an exhibition of the work of artist Albino Hinojosa from Jan. 26 through Feb. 22.
An opening reception will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, in the Brinson Fine Art Gallery. The public is invited to attend.
Hinojosa was born in Atlanta, Texas, in 1943, and was raised in the small east Texas town of Kildare. He attended Texarkana College, where he studied under artist Otis Lumpkin.
He completed his studies at East Texas State University in Commerce. Hinojosa worked for 30 years as a commercial artist while teaching at Louisiana Tech University. Tech became his professional home, where he taught as an associate professor of art from 1972 until his retirement in 2001. He now works full-time as an artist.
Hinojosa is a realist painter and paints subjects from everyday life. His subject matter is very near and dear to his heart.
