Five faculty members at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, were recently honored with awards from the University. Those receiving awards were Dr. Lynne Belcher, Steven Ochs, Dr. Sam Heintz, Dr. Scott White, and Dr. Tim Wise.
Dr. Lynne Belcher, a member of the SAU faculty since 1990, was chosen as Honor Professor at the University. She is a professor of English and serves as director of the Honors College program at the University. Belcher earned her B.S., M.S., and D.A. from Illinois State University.
Steven Ochs, associate professor of art, received the Outstanding Research Award. Ochs has been with SAU since 1991. He received his B.A. from Eastern Illinois University, M.A. from the University of Illinois, and M.F.A. from Ohio University.
Dr. Sam Heintz received the Auburn Smith Service award at SAU. Heintz, who has been at SAU since 2001, is an associate professor of physical sciences. He received his B.S.Ch.E, M.S.Ch.E, and Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Scott White received the Robert Walz Teaching Excellence Award. White is an assistant professor of chemistry and has been with the University since 2000. He received his B.S. from Harding University and M.S. from Purdue University.
Dr. Tim Wise received the Calvin Wetzig Teaching Excellence Award. Wise is an associate professor of management and marketing. He joined the SAU faculty in 1993. He received his B.A., M.A., M.B.A., and D.B.A. from Louisiana Tech University.
