Four chapter members of the Phi Beta Lambda chapter at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, attended the 2006 National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., this summer.
This four-day conference included numerous leadership workshops, national competitive events, and national officer elections.
At the conference, PBL members were given the opportunity to compete in an assortment of events, representing a wide range of business activities and leadership development. The winners of these extremely competitive and prestigious events rank highest among FBLA-PBL’s membership of more than 250,000 of America’s brightest business students.
Daniel Angelov, a recent graduate of SAU with a B.B.A. in accounting from Bulgaria, placed first in the accounting analysis and decision making event. Angelov is presently employed at Price-Waterhouse in Little Rock.
Vanessa Johnson, a junior accounting major from Magnolia, placed fifth in the job interview event. Sharon McWilliams Spence, a senior business education major from Magnolia, placed 10th in the future business teacher event. SAU chapter president and Region IV vice president Candyce McCann, a sophomore organizational management major from Magnolia, attended and graduated from the National Institute for Leaders.
Also attending were chapter advisers Traci Hughes and Gerald Plumlee.
Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda is the national business education association that prepares students for their future careers. Its members, belonging to more than 6,000 chartered chapters, include students from the United States, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Europe. Phi Beta Lambda is the post-secondary division of Future Business Leaders of America. PBL members rely on corporate sponsorship, donations, and fundraisers to cover the expense of attending the National Leadership Conference.
