Jonathon Bradford has the best of both worlds. He spends the majority of his time in Magnolia, as a student at Southern Arkansas University, enjoying the finer things in life offered by residing in a smaller town; but he is close enough to his hometown to make periodical visits and get his fix for the big city.
To those who might be reluctant to live in a smaller town, Jonathon has some words of advice.
“A small town isn’t as bad as you might think,” he said. “You will still have the same opportunities to make friends that you would in a big city.”
Jonathon, a computer information systems major from Bryant, seems to have settled into small town life at SAU just fine.
“I like the professors in the College of Business,” said Jonathon, a 2003 graduate of Bryant High School and son of Carolyn and David Bradford. “They always take time to meet with me and help me with problems I might have.
After graduation, Jonathon hopes to be married and enrolled in graduate school at SAU. When he earns his master’s degree, he knows what he wants to do.
“I would love to lead the technology division of a major corporation,” he said.
Jonathon became interested in computers at a young age.
“When I was young, we got our first computer and I started playing games,” he said. “As a teenager I got my own computer and had an opportunity to play around with it more.”
In high school, Jonathon was involved with the technology department.
“It was kind of fun, and I had a lot of responsibility,” he said.
Although Jonathon is from a big city, it may be that life in Magnolia has shown him that there are just as many opportunities in smaller towns.
