Three international students from the College of Business at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, gained valuable real-world knowledge through internships at Alcoa.
The students include Sing Yi Ng of Hong Kong, Sangam KC of Nepal, and Elizabeth Yagaza of Tanzania. All three students graduated from SAU on May 12. Ng and Yagaza received their B.B.A. in management, and KC earned his B.B.A. in computer information systems.
Yagaza shared her weekly experiences with the senior human resource management class and strengthened the curriculum for all management majors at SAU. Yagaza worked with Jane Hill, human resource manager at Alcoa.
“Since Alcoa also has a branch in Hong Kong, the working experience I have gained from the company may give me the opportunity to work for them when I return home,” said Ng.
Dr. Gayle White, intern director, appreciates the opportunity Alcoa has provided international students at SAU. White is also the Turner Professor of Management at SAU.
“Alcoa has been instrumental in the success of the internship program and over the years has worked with numerous young men and women to gain valuable practical experiences,” she said. “This experience gives the SAU business students an advantage in the job market.”
