Doug Waterfield, assistant professor of art at Southern Arkansas University, recently signed a contract for representation with the Cox Creative Gallery in Little Rock.
“I am excited to be working with the Cox Creative Gallery,” said Waterfield. “It will be great to have a regular venue in which to display and sell my work.”
The Cox Creative Gallery is a retail gallery that specializes in Arkansas artists. The Gallery is part of the Central Arkansas Library System. Waterfield delivered 29 recent pieces, completed in 2005. He was approached by the Gallery for representation in mid-October.
“Hopefully this exposure will lead to additional opportunities. This is a significant step in my career as an artist,” he said.
Waterfield has been teaching at SAU since 2000. This is his second year as chair of the Department of Art and Design. He is also currently pursuing his M.F.A. at Louisiana Tech University in addition to his teaching duties.
