More than 800 students from 30 high schools in the southwest region will descend on the campus of Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday, Oct. 11, to participate in the FBLA District IV Fall Leadership conference.
“FBLA is an outstanding leadership development organization, and we are pleased to welcome them to SAU,” said Dr. David Rankin, president. “As a past member of the National Board of Directors, I can attest to the fact that FBLA does, indeed, provide students with exciting opportunities for competition and leadership.”
Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. and the program starts at 9:30 a.m.
Beth Anne Rankin, former Miss Arkansas, will be the keynote speaker.
Members of the President’s Ambassadors and students from the College of Business will be on hand to assist students and advisers.
“It is exciting to have this many high school students on our campus,” said Traci Hughes, adviser to SAU’s PBL chapter. “I am glad the University took this opportunity to host the FBLA conference.”
Participants will be able to buy lunch on campus and will be entertained by Encore.
“I think this is a great promotional opportunity for the University,” said Hughes. “Many teachers have said they are very excited about coming here because it is closer to their schools.”
Participating schools include Ashdown, Bearden, Bismarck, Blevins, Bradley, Camden, Centerpoint, Delight, Emerson, Foreman, Fordyce, Fouke, Genoa Central, Glen Rose, Gurdon, harmony Grove, Kirby, Lafayette County, Magnet Cove, Magnolia, Malvern, Murfreesboro, Nevada, Ouachita, Poyen, Prescott, Spring Hill, Stephens, Taylor, and Waldo.
