Dr. Yonghu Dai, assistant professor of Spanish at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, published a bilingual anthology (Spanish and Chinese) of the Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario.
Dai started his research and translation on Dario when he was a graduate student at Peking University in China. He wrote a thesis on the Nicaraguan poet for his master’s degree. Some of his translations of Dario’s poems appeared in an anthology in China in 1997.
After Dai joined the faculty of the Department of English and Foreign Languages in 2001, he continued his research on Dario. In December 2001, Dai presented a paper on Dario at the Modern Language Associations annual convention in New Orleans, La.
An expanded version of the paper “La presencia china en las obras de Ruben Dario” (The Chinese presence in Ruben Dario’s works) was published in “Dario: Miradas criticas sobre Ruben Dario.”
In the summer of 2003, Dai received a research grant from the Research Committee at SAU. As a result he published this bilingual anthology.
“Ruben Dario, Antologia poetica bilingue” is published by Editorial urbis and Fundacion International Ruben Dario.
Dai received his B.A. and M.A. from Peking University and his Ph.D. from Tulane University
