The Small Business Development Center at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, Congressman Mike Ross, and the Ouachita Partnership for Economic Development will co-sponsor “How to Get Government Contacts” from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at the Ouachita Valley Business and Technology Development Center in Camden.
Government agencies buy everything from laundry detergent to lawn mowing services. Learn how to do business with the government, find out who is buying the products and services, and prepare to get a share of the money in government sales going to other business owners.
If a company is owned by individuals who are socially and economically disadvantaged, it may qualify for certification into the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program. The 8(a) program seeks to level the playing field for those individuals, helping them compete for and win government contracts. Topics will include eligibility benefits available to certified firms, documentation required to submit an application, and certification procedures.
Speakers for the program include Congressman Mike Ross, Carol Silverstrom of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Sue Coats of the Arkansas Procurement Assistance Center.
The seminar is free to attendees, but pre-registration is required so please call now to register. Breakfast will be provided by OPED for all in attendance.
Registration must be made by Monday, Aug. 22. For more information or to register, call 870-235-4005.
