Six students from the Department of Art and Design at Southern Arkansas University recently reviewed 15 films they had created in a special topics art class.
The students are Scott Franklin, a senior graphic design major from Magnolia; Kassie Holloway, a junior graphic design major from Homer, La.; Daniel Hudgens, a junior graphic design major from Waldo; Justin Nash, a senior graphic design major from Nashville; Alexis Smith, a senior graphic design major from Taylor; and Mark Wallace, a senior graphic design major from Ashdown.
“Through a generous technology grant awarded by SAU, the department was able to purchase an iMac computer and the Final Cut Pro software needed to expand the variety of classes we can offer students,” said Scotland Stout, associate professor of art.
Each student assembled four films dealing with interviews, simple imagery, still shots, and music.
The class is currently putting together a collaborative film focusing on a day as an art student, which will be used for recruiting.
“This class has been a lot of fun,” said Stout.
Their final film will be a 15 to 20 minute documentary on an art project they have been working on the entire semester. These films will be offered for viewing during finals week.
