Building/Office: Brinson Fine Arts (BAB) 201 Slot Number: 42Michael Womack currently serves as an Instructor of Music and Faculty Accompanist at Southern Arkansas University. He enjoys collaborating with singers and instrumentalists throughout the year in recitals, concerts, and opera/musical theatre productions. As a proponent of new music, Michael recently served as the vocal coach and performance pianist for the world premiere of J. Todd Frazier’s medical opera, Breath of Life, and has premiered numerous works by American composer, Dale Sakamoto, including his cycles So Pass the Hours and Le Petit Prince. He is also a founding member of the Trescendo Trio, a flute, saxophone, and piano chamber group. The Trescendo Trio will be performing at the Mid-South Flute Festival and National Flute Association this year, in addition to several recitals in and around Arkansas. As a vocal coach and pianist, Michael has had the opportunity to collaborate on more than sixty opera and musical theatre productions. In the 2023-2024 season, he will serve as the musical director for five productions, Dogfight, Edges, Fiddler on the Roof, John & Jen, and The Last Five Years, and will continue to present recitals and masterclasses throughout the southern United States. Michael was selected as a 2019 NATS Intern and also completed all three levels of Somatic Voicework, the LoVetri Method. He has studied piano with Jane Abbott-Kirk, Kae Hosoda-Ayer, J.J. Penna, Jeffrey Peterson, and Melinda Smashey-Jones and has worked as a collaborative pianist at Texas Tech University, Baylor University, and Southwest Baptist University. Michael holds an M.M. in Collaborative Piano (2015) from Baylor University and a B.M. in Church Music with Piano Performance (2012) from Southwest Baptist University.
