Dr. Abbas Azarpour received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tehran (Tehran, Iran) in February 1991, and obtained his M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Shiraz University (Shiraz, Iran) in February 2001. He completed a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) (Skudai, Malaysia) in March 2014, and a PhD in Process Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) (St. John’s, Canada) in April 2021. He worked for chemical and petrochemical industries for 10 years, having different responsibilities such as control room supervisor, plant supervisor, and senior process engineer. He was an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Mahshahr Azad University (Mahshahr, Iran) from February 2006 till September 2010. He was a senior lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) (Seri Iskandar, Malaysia) from March 2015 till December 2017, teaching and doing research in the field of chemical engineering. Moreover, he taught process engineering courses in the Department of Process Engineering at MUN from May 2021 till December 2022. Dr. Azarpour was a postdoctoral fellow in UTM and MUN, and does research in the areas of process modeling, simulation, and optimization, data science and artificial intelligence, process design and integration, and carbon management. He joined the Department of Engineering & Physics at Southern Arkansas University (SAU) in January 2024, and his academic and industrial experiences qualify him to teach various courses in the field of Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, and Industrial Technology. Currently, he is doing research focusing on clean energy and sustainable processes.
