ITS will be performing equipment maintenance on Tuesday, December 21 at 1pm that will cause intermittent outages to the Internet. The process should take approximately three (3) hours to complete. During the outages the campus will not have access to the Internet and our systems will not be accessible from off-campus. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Contact Gary Hickson if you have questions.
Planned Overstreet Network Outage
ITS will be upgrading the network equipment in Overstreet on Friday, December 17th at 3pm. This will cause a network outage for Overstreet during this process. It is expected to last approximately one (1) hour. Contact Gary Hickson if you have any questions concerning this outage.
MATRIX Blackboard Server Shutdown & Course Migration
Effective 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, matrix.saumag.edu will be SHUTDOWN. All Fall 2010 courses will be moved to the Blackboard production server. This move could take up to 24 hours to complete. An email notification will be sent when courses become available.
Annual Blackboard Maintenance
On Monday, May 17, 2010, all student users and courses from previous semesters will be removed from Blackboard. This includes courses from the current 092S term code. Exceptions will be made for courses that need to remain online at the request of a faculty member with a valid reason such as courses students need to complete specific course work. The maintenance procedures will be completed by May 20, 2010.
During this maintenance period, there will be two hours of downtime on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 8:00 am – 10:00 am CDT.
Except for this two hour downtime, the server will remain online for faculty to develop their Summer (093s, 094s) and Fall (101s) courses.
It will be necessary for you to export any previous Blackboard course that you may need in the future. For assistance with exporting courses, please contact Kathy Cole, Online Faculty Training Coordinator.
Blackboard System Maintenance
On Tuesday, March 23, 2010, between 8:00 am and 10:00 am CDT, the Blackboard production server will be offline for maintenance. This maintenance addresses a number of technical issues.
AntiVirus Notification
If you receive a Symantec AntiVirus Notification on a campus computer or laptop, please notify the Helpdesk, ext. 4083. When the Helpdesk is notified, a desktop analyst will check the computer/laptop to determine the result of the scan and the origination of the virus.
Scheduled Internet Access Outage
In preparation for connection to the Arkansas Research and Education Optical Network (ARE-ON), ITS will be replacing the campus firewalls on March 26th. The process will begin at noon on the 26th. During this time, all off-campus Internet access and email will be unavailable. This should not affect access to on-campus resources (Blackboard, web server, Campus Connect and email). We expect the process to take approximately one hour, but could take longer if we encounter problems. An email will be sent after service has been restored. If you have questions, please contact Gary Hickson by phone at 235-4069 or by email at garyhickson@saumag.edu.

Nelson network upgrades
ITS will be upgrading the network in Nelson Hall this Friday (January 23) starting at 5:30pm. We recommend that you turn your PC off at the end of the day Friday — if you are in Nelson Hall. This will allow your PC to better synchronize with the new hardware when you turn your PC back on after the upgrades. We expect the upgrades to be complete by 6:30pm.
If you do not have network connectivity when you turn your PC on Monday morning please restart it again. If after the restart, you still don’t have network connectivity, please call HelpDesk for assistance.
Telephone service in Peace Hall
There is no telephone service in Peace Hall due to a cable cut. Repairs have been initiated and we expect it to be complete by late Friday afternoon.
