{"id":11,"date":"2013-02-25T14:30:47","date_gmt":"2013-02-25T20:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/writing-center\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2024-11-02T16:34:25","modified_gmt":"2024-11-02T21:34:25","slug":"conferences","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/writing-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Conferences"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What happens during a conference?<\/h2>\n<p>Whether we meet in person for a <strong>face-to-face conference <\/strong>or during\u00a0a <strong>virtual conference (via Zoom)<\/strong>, we will<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ask you questions about the writing assignment and about your goals for\u00a0your writing;<\/li>\n<li>listen as you explain your needs, comments, and questions;<\/li>\n<li>read your paper, brainstorm with you about your ideas, and\/or help you locate and use resources; and<\/li>\n<li>encourage you to take control of the conference and of your writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You should come prepared with<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>any instructions (the prompt) or professor&#8217;s comments,<\/li>\n<li>needed materials (the article you&#8217;re using, the book you&#8217;re writing about, your data, etc.), and<\/li>\n<li>a willingness to accept constructive feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Stop by <b style=\"text-align: center\">Magale 101<\/b><span style=\"text-align: center\">, during our in-person hours<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/writing-center\/appointments\/\">or click here to sign up for a Zoom conference during our virtual hours.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For an <strong>online submission<\/strong>, we will<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>review your online submission form, including contact information, comments and concerns regarding your attached work, and any instructions for the assignment;<\/li>\n<li>read your paper, brainstorm with you about your ideas, and\/or help you locate and use resources;<\/li>\n<li>read your work [which should be submitted as a <strong>Word doc<\/strong>]\u00a0and respond using comments, questions, and our rubric; and<\/li>\n<li>return your work and our feedback via email within the time frame listed on the submission form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/writing-center\/online-submission\/\">Click here to submit your writing to us online, for feedback via email.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What happens during a conference?
