Who Can Apply?<\/h2>\n

Any student attending one of the target high schools is eligible to apply to the SAU Upward Bound Program. Students with an interest in post-secondary success are especially encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

Target High Schools<\/span><\/a>\n

Additionally, An Upward Bound Applicant:<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen<\/li>\n
  2. Must be entering their freshman year in high school and at least 14 years of age at the time of application<\/li>\n
  3. Must have college potential but need academic support to be successful in college<\/li>\n
  4. Most students must qualify in both of the following areas, although a few students may be accepted who only meet one <\/strong>of the following:\n
      \n
    1. Low-income (guideline set forth by the federal government)<\/li>\n
    2. First generation college student (i.e., no natural or adoptive parent living in the home has a four-year college degree)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      In addition to the above criteria, admission to the Southern Arkansas University Upward Bound Program is based on student grades and counselor and teacher recommendations.<\/p>\n

      I am a high school freshman or know a high school freshman who lives within a 50-mile radius of Magnolia, Arkansas, and is interested in applying to the Southern Arkansas University Upward Bound Program. Please send more information to:<\/p>\n
