Southern Arkansas University administers the computer based Praxis test. Registration and scheduling for the test is done on the Praxis website.<\/p>\n

Purpose<\/h2>\n

The Praxis Series is an Educational Testing Services (ETS) program which provides tests and other services for states to use as a part of their teacher certification process. The three categories of assessments in the Praxis Series correspond to the three milestones in the development of a teacher: entering the teacher training program, graduating from college and entering the profession, and the first year of teaching. The state of Arkansas requires prospective teachers to take the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Reading, Mathematics, and Writing) and tests of the Praxis Subject Assessments which include Principles of Learning and Teaching <\/em>and Subject Assessments\/Specialty Area Tests<\/em>. Teacher candidates should consult the Praxis website and\/or their State Department’s website for current requirements.<\/p>\n

Praxis\u2122<\/strong><\/em> Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core)\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Praxis\u2122 <\/em>Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Tests measure academic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. These tests were designed to provide comprehensive assessments that measure the skills and content knowledge of candidates entering teacher preparation programs.\u00a0 The Praxis Core is one of the requirements for entrance into the teacher’s education program at Southern Arkansas University. The Praxis<\/em> Core tests are delivered on computer. They are administered through an international network of test centers.<\/p>\n

PRAXIS Subject Assessments<\/strong> measures knowledge the candidate will teach. They also measure the general and subject-specific pedagogical skills and knowledge. The tests are computer based.
