The club coordinates activities such as hiking and camping trips, seminars and other recreational and educational opportunities for students to explore and enjoy<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0nature.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3 id=\"pre-health-club\">Pre-Health Club<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Student President, Alyssa Fish<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Faculty Advisors, Daniel McDermott and Adrian Showalter<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SAU&#8217;s Pre-Health Club is open to all SAU students interested in a career in the health sciences. The student-run club coordinates educational, outreach and community service activities and helps provide its members with both practical experience and training, as well as networking and mentoring opportunities to prepare for a career in the health sciences.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sauprehealthclub\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sauprehealthclub<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"pre-health-advisory\">Pre-Health Advisory Committee<\/h3>\n<p>Southern Arkansas University&#8217;s Pre-Health Advisory Committee, chaired by Dr. Daniel McDermott, helps students interested in pre-health fields, including medical doctors, physician assistants, and other related professions, by advising on activities, letters of recommendation, and strategic planning.<\/p>\n<p><b>Purpose: <\/b>The committee&#8217;s primary function is to support students pursuing careers in healthcare, offering guidance and resources to help them succeed in their pre-health journey.<\/p>\n<p><b>Composition: <\/b>The committee is comprised of SAU faculty from the Biology and Chemistry Departments, including Dr. Daniel McDermott (chair), Dr. Antoinette Odendaal ,\u00a0 Dr. Jeremy Chamberlain, Dr. James Hyde, Dr. Adrian Showalter, Dr. Samia Amin, and Dr. Abe Tucker.<\/p>\n<p><b>Activities: <\/b>The committee convenes to discuss the assessment and viability of pre-health activities, letters of recommendation, and strategic planning for the pre-health program.<\/p>\n<p><b>Contact Information: <\/b>For more information about SAU&#8217;s Pre-Health program, you can contact Dr. Daniel McDermott at <a href=\"mailto:dsmcdermott@saumag.edu\">dsmcdermott@saumag.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Biology Club Student President, Shulamith Jaquez Faculty Advisor, Abe\u00a0Tucker SAU&#8217;s Biology Club is open to all SAU students interested in the life sciences.
