400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apply and be admitted to SAU Gradate School<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Admitted graduate students will be asked by their advisor to upload the following into SAU\u2019s Graduate Admission\u2019s Portal in order to be confirmed as a candidate in the School Counseling Program:<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Science of Reading Awareness Agreement<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copy of Arkansas Teaching License<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statement of Purpose<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><h4><b>*Current Requirements for Add-On Licensure from DESE <\/b><b>at Program Completion<\/b><\/h4><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add-On Licensure Application<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Official SAU Transcript<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>*Note: DESE Licensure requirements may be subject to class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><b>Requirements for Initial Licensure Pathway (Arkansas)<\/b><\/h3><p><b>Program Admission Requirements<\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Apply to and be admitted to the four-course <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/academics\/program\/teaching-certificate\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Education Certificate Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> through SAU\u2019s Graduate Admissions Portal.\u00a0 Once admitted, communication with advisors regarding the intention to pursue the school counseling degree is a must.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Upon successful completion of the four required classes, apply for the Education Certificate on the Graduate Admissions page and notify the Director of the School Counseling Program via e-mail requesting a major change from Education Certificate Program to the School Counseling Program.\u00a0 This e-mail will prompt the director to send needed information whereby the candidate will then be able to return the following:<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Science of Reading Awareness Agreement<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Copy of Unofficial Transcript reflecting the Education Certificate<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Statement of Purpose<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><b>*Current Requirements for Initial Licensure from DESE <\/b><b>at School Counseling Program Completion<\/b><b>:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please know that SAU faculty are dedicated to helping guide in this process and will provide avenues to help initial licensure candidates obtain the current licensure requirements while in their program of study.<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Approved Background Check in AELS<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Initial Licensure Application<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Official SAU Transcript<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Proof of Required Professional Development Trainings<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span
