Six faculty members and one student from the College of Business at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, presented refereed papers at the 33rd annual meeting of the Federation of Business Disciplines Conference in Oklahoma City, Okla.<\/p>\n

FBD is an annual meeting of 12 associations that represent disciplines common to business administration.<\/p>\n

Dr. Sam Riner and Daniel Angelov presented \u201cCurrent Trends in the U.S. Public Accounting Industry\u201d to the American Accounting Association \u2013 Southwest Region. Riner is an associate professor of accounting. Angelov is a senior accounting and finance double major from Gabrovo, Bulgaria.<\/p>\n

Dr. Beverly Oswalt, Ronnie Watson, and Dr. John Scott all made presentations to the Association of Business Information Systems. Oswalt and Watson, along with Carla Barber from the University of Central Arkansas, presented \u201cTechnical Certification and Licensure through MIS Programs at AACSB Accredited Schools.\u201d Scott and Oswalt presented \u201cHow Much Content Should Internet Outlets Give Away?\u201d Oswalt and Barber presented \u201cIT Disaster Recovery Planning: Lessons Learned from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.\u201d Oswalt presented \u201cImpact of Effective Collaborative Communication on the Success of Collaborative Commerce at FedEx Corporation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oswalt is an associate professor of management information systems. Scott is associate professor of economics and director of the Center for Economic Education and Research. Watson is instructor of management information systems.<\/p>\n

Dr. Limount Zhao, assistant professor of finance, presented \u201cCan the Fastest Growers Continue to Grow Fast?\u201d to the Southwest Finance Association.<\/p>\n

Dr. Marshall Horton, associate professor of economics, presented \u201cA \u2018New\u2019 Way of Teaching Elementary Economics\u201d to the Southwestern Society of Economists.<\/p>\n

In addition to presenting papers, Riner served as a session chair for the American Accounting Association \u2013 Southwest Region. Oswalt was president of ABIS for 2005-06. She served on the FBD and ABIS boards, served as a session chair, and conducted the ABIS business meeting. She was a panelist for a joint session of ABIS and the Southwest Decision Sciences Association.<\/p>\n

Oswalt was also appointed to a three-year term as the new editor of a refereed journal that will be published by ABIS beginning fall 2006. Horton served on the executive committee of the Southwestern Society of Economists. He was also a discussant for one of the sessions for SWSE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
