LITTLE ROCK–The School of Graduate Studies at Southern Arkansas University will offer a unique course on Social Justice this fall at the Arkansas Studies Institute in Little Rock.<\/p>\n
The Public Administration and Social Justice course is part of the Social Justice track in the Executive Masters of Public Administration degree program.<\/p>\n
The course is offered in an intensive weekend format with meetings scheduled for October 2-4 and November 20-22. Dr. Patrick Edgar, the director of the EMPA program, is the instructor for the course.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe social justice curriculum is very timely in light of what is going on in our country right now. Social justice is a progressive movement that involves questioning political equity and economic equity,\u201d Edgar said. \u201cThis course will allow us to ask ourselves who we are. These are the questions we should be asking right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
The three-year-old EMPA program at SAU, which has grown from 10 to 40 master\u2019s students, has offered weekend courses in Texarkana and Camden as well as evening courses on the SAU main campus in Magnolia. The 36-hour degree program also allows students to choose tracks in local government, non-profit organizations, and criminal justice.<\/p>\n
The Arkansas Studies Institute, a joint project of the Central Arkansas Library System and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is located in the River Market district of Little Rock.<\/p>\n
