Members of the faculty and staff at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, were honored with a back-to-school reception and dinner in the Grand Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center on the University campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has been a banner year for the University and accreditations,\u201d said Dr. David Rankin, president. \u201cIt is a mark of excellence for our institution to receive these accreditations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rankin praised the hard work of all faculty and staff members.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to thank everyone for working so hard to make SAU what it is,\u201d said Rankin. \u201cNothing would be possible without your help.\u201d<\/p>\n
Guests feasted on a dinner of chicken or roast beef, were entertained by two talented SAU students and one artistic staff member, were awarded beautiful door prizes, and were treated to a brief talk by state Rep. Bruce Maloch.<\/p>\n
Maloch, who is a graduate of SAU, is currently in his second term as a state representative. He is also chief operating officer at Farmers Bank and Trust.<\/p>\n
He told staff and faculty that his roots ran deep at SAU. His father graduated from Magnolia A & M, his wife, Martha, is an SAU graduate, and his son, Ryan, and daughter, Lauren Covington, both received degrees from the University.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am glad to be a part of SAU,\u201d he said. \u201cI am glad SAU is in my district. It is an honor to represent you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maloch said that SAU is his top priority in the Legislature.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my campaign, I have emphasized education and economic development,\u201d said Maloch. \u201cThey go hand-in-hand.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maloch showed his appreciation for the work done by faculty and staff members at SAU.<\/p>\n
