Dr. Trey Berry,\u00a0President of SAU,\u00a0announced that\u00a0Dr. Neelie Dobbins,\u00a0Associate\u00a0Professor of\u00a0Teacher Education,\u00a0has been selected to hold the title of Alumni Endowed Professor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe effort to secure this endowed professorship was unlike any other in SAU history,\u201d said Dr. Berry. \u201cIt was truly a grassroots effort involving the hard work of a committee of College of Education alumni and the gifts of dozens of people who made this possible.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7949\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2020\/01\/Dr-Neelie-Dobbins.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7949\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7949\" src=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2020\/01\/Dr-Neelie-Dobbins-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"COE Alumni Endowed Professor\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2020\/01\/Dr-Neelie-Dobbins-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2020\/01\/Dr-Neelie-Dobbins-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2020\/01\/Dr-Neelie-Dobbins.jpg 810w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7949\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Neelie Dobbins<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Berry consulted with Dr. Kim Bloss,\u00a0Dean of the College, on Dobbins\u2019 selection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Dobbins\u2019 dedication to the profession of teaching, her commitment to students, and her service to the College make her the perfect candidate for this honor,\u201d said Dr. Bloss.<\/p>\n<p>Dobbins has been teaching at SAU since 2010 and has an exemplary\u00a0record of\u00a0teaching,\u00a0service, and research. She has chaired the Department of Teacher Education since 2015 and served as\u00a0the Department\u2019s Accreditation\u00a0Coordinator since 2017. She is a\u00a0dedicated\u00a0teacher and advisor to more than 100 students. Her research record includes numerous journal publications and presentations at local, state, regional, and national conferences. Dr. Dobbins is passionate about teacher education and continues SAU\u2019s legacy of preparing the best educators in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am beyond honored and grateful for the opportunities I have been provided by SAU to learn and grow,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is another way for the Teacher Education\u00a0Department and me to develop as educators to ensure we have the best pedagogical practices and technology available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr.\u00a0Berry expressed thanks to Steve and Deborah Nipper of Magnolia, who chaired the professorship committee.
